What is the MAT?

The full form of MAT is the Management Aptitude Test. MAT is a standard aptitude test conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for admissions into over 600 Business Schools in India. It has been conducted every year since 1988 and is one of the largest MBA entrance exams in India. It even has a higher acceptability rate than CAT. The MAT exam score is considered a basis for admission into MBA and other related programs. The following table shows the important highlights of the MAT 2020 Exam.

MAT Exam was approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India as a national level test in the year 2003. Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national-level management entrance examination and is a gateway for admission to various MBA, PGDM, and other related management programs across India.

The candidates have the choice of giving the exam either online (Computer Based Test) or offline (Paper Based Test). The exam can only be given in English only. MAT 2020 will consist of 200 questions that the candidate will be required to complete in two and a half hours (150 minutes).

MAT Exam is conducted four times in a year, in February, May, September, and December. The application form for MAT 2020 will be available on the official website of the AIMA.

MAT 2020 Results will be declared within a few weeks after the execution of the test on its official website and the MAT score that the candidate gets will be valid for a year. The various aspects related to MAT Exam are:

MAT 2020 Notification

The AIMA conducts the MAT Exam throughout the year. The MAT Exam is usually conducted in paper-based and computer-based so the AIMA releases MAT Notifications for these tests. There is no one MAT 2020 Notification as the exam is taken multiple times in a year. All the information about each mode of the exam is released in separate MAT 2020 Notification. The AIMA has launched a new mode of MAT 2020 Exam called IBT mode which is also being conducted numerous times. The schedule of all the exams, eligibility criteria, age criteria, application form details, and the process can be found on the official website of AIMA.

MAT 2020 Exam Date

The MAT 2020 Exam is conducted throughout the year in paper-based mode and computer-based mode. Although, authorities have cancelled the MAT 2020 Exam for the safety of the candidates due to the COVID-19 crisis going on in the country. Instead of the PBT and CBT mode, AIMA officials have introduced a new mode of testing called MAT IBT 2020 Exam. The MAT IBT 2020 Exam is a remotely proctored test which means candidates can take the MAT 2020 Exam from the safety of their homes. The MAT IBT Exams will be conducted throughout the year, a number of times so candidates can book a slot which is most suitable for them. The notification for February 2020 MAT Exam was released in December 2019. The exam was going to take place in February. And, the result was to be declared in the last week of February. But the PBT Exam has been canceled for the 2020. The exam dates for online and offline mode are different. Candidates can follow the MAT 2020 Exam Dates which are given below table.

MAT 2020 IBT - Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test

AIMA has introduced the MAT IBT to be conducted alongside the MAT PBT and MAT CBT for the May 2020 session. The MAT May PBT and CBT have been postponed to August 27, 2020 and July 4, 2020 respectively. There is a separate schedule for the IBT mentioned in the MAT 2020 Important Dates section.

Candidates can take up the IBT to appear for the MAT from the safety of their homes. However, the candidate is required to have a computer and a good internet connection with no interruptions and to maintain the validity of the examination scores, the test will be remotely monitored in dual-mode, i.e; by employing robust Artificial Intelligence(AI) based tools as well as human proctors.

Therefore, candidates will now have the option to select from three modes, i.e; IBT, CBT, and PBT. Those candidates who had registered for the PBT/CBT and changed their minds about going to an exam centre, later on, were given a chance to switch to the IBT mode. This change had to be made by May 17, 2020 on the application portal for the MAT May 2020.

MAT 2020 Eligibility

Before filling up the MAT Application Form, the candidate has to check their eligibility criteria. MAT exam opens the gateway for candidates who wish to pursue PGDM courses related to MBA. Therefore anyone applying for the exam must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized college. or a professional degree in India like CA, CS, ICWA, etc. or they can appear for the exam even if they are in the final year of their degree.

The framed guidelines for MAT Exam Eligibility Criteria does not specify any age limit for the applicant. Work experience has points in the interview post the exam but is not a basic MAT Eligibility criteria. Therefore, candidates having no work experience can also apply for the MAT Exam as it is not mandatory. Above all, another important criterion is that the candidate must be an Indian National to apply for the MAT Exam. Candidate must have a valid unique email and phone number during the entire MAT Exam process as the communication will be done via the email address and phone number provided by the candidate.

Candidates should note that the MAT Exam eligibility is different from the college admission eligibility so when applying for their respective college, candidates should check the eligibility criteria of that particular college.

MAT 2020 Registration

All the candidates who are eligible for the exams need to apply through the official site of AIMA. MAT exam registration process is simple and is mandatory for every candidate to continue with the rest of the application procedure for MAT 2020 exam. Along with CBT mode, the MAT 2020 Exam is now conducted as a remotely proctored mode or IBT mode, the test is taken throughout the year multiple times. For each of the tests, registration window and dates for other events vary. The process of registration remains the same. Before registering for the MAT 2020 Exam, candidates should check whether they meet the eligibility criteria.

MAT 2020 Application Form

MAT Exam 2020 Application Form is only available online. A candidate needs to apply through the official website of the AIMA. MAT 2020 Application Form is divided into four parts.

While filling the MAT 2020 Application form, the candidate should write their name as on the official document. There should not be any inconsistency. Once the candidates have paid the fees for the MAT 2020 Exam, they should check the status of the fee payment. The contact details provided in the MAT 2020 Application form should be valid as these details will be used to communicate with the candidate in the MAT 2020 Exam procedure. No error should be made while filling the MAT 2020 Application form. Candidates should check the MAT 2020 Application Form before submitting it.
